Shear Comfort® Overlay provides an interface between the patient and the surface. The Overlay will assist in pressure reduction, will absorb moisture, transfer heat away from the body and reduce the shear and friction.

Any item purchased is warranted from the date of purchase against faults arising due to defects in materials or manufacturing.

Warranty does not cover parts or electrical components damaged by misuse, neglect, accident or impropper installation, nor those tampered with, altered or serviced by an agency not authorized by the manufacturer.

Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, eg tyres and tubes.

All warranty claims must be returned to us for assessment.

There are no accessories for the Shear Comfort® Overlay.

Complete Lambskin

The Shear Comfort® Overlay is a complete lambskin which will cover from the shoulders to the sacrum area on an adult. This versatile product can be placed in the bed, used when seated in a chair or used in the car.

Most care givers find it useful to use 2 Overlays- one on the bed and the other in the chair. This allows for 24/7 use when washing is needed.


Urine Resistant

This HiTemp wash, Urine Resistant Sheepskin should be used for pressure care in the bed- place on the sheet and against the skin for maximum benefit. Being Urine Resistant, these are the only sheepskins suitable for incontinent users. All others will break down in the presence of urine.


Clinical Trial in Royal Melbourne Hospital

Effective in preventing and treating pressure sores because of their ability to reduce pressure, shear and skin moisture. These Medical Sheepskins were tested in a clinical trial at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. This study found there was a 58% decrease in the incidence of pressure sores in patients who rested on an Australian Medical Sheepskin.

Most effective if used 24/7. Transfer the Shear Comfort Overlay from the bed to the chair or use two or more.


Machine Washing Precaution

When Machine washing it is important to use Shear Comfort Sheepskin Shampoo & Conditioner (SC 403). Normal household detergents will permanently damage the leather of these Overlays.

Australian Standards have been developed to ensure equipment meets recognised safety and reliability criteria. To achieve this status, equipment must pass a series of tests in which it is put under difficult conditions that are designed to be similar to those that the child or adult may face when the equipment is used.
