Manufactured Specifically for Outdoor Use
The outdoor stair lift has all the safety and comfort features of the indoor stair lift, but is designed and manufactured specifically for outdoor use.
Ideal solution for situations involving any staircase that is exposed to the elements, including garden steps, sun decks, porches, front steps and garage or basement steps.
Even in an outdoor setting, the Acorn Superglide Stair Lift has world renowned ride quality and performance, making it whisper quiet, smooth, stable and very easy to use.
All metallic components are either made in aluminium, or are oil annealed or zinc plated before powder coating. Plastic components are heat and UV resistant, protecting the stair lift from color fading and ambient heat damage. Included with the stair lift is a durable plastic cover which will keep off accumulations of leaves and snow.
The stairlift is fitted with these essential safety systems to eliminate any possibility of an uncontrolled descent of the stairlift.
At the end of either an ascent or descent, the stairlift will come to a 'soft stop' due to the limit sensors. These ensure that the stairlift always stops in the correct position.
An Acorn stairlift can be controlled via 2 methods, a simple 'paddle switch' and the infra-red remote control. The 'paddle switch' control is located at the end of both arm rests of the stairlift and can be operated by hand. You will receive two infra-red remotes with every stairlift which enables you to call the stairlift to either end of the stairs. The infra-red remote is wireless so there are no messy cables trailing around your home, or unsightly wall mounted control stations. If both remotes are used at the same time, the paddle switches will override the remote controls, that means that the person on the stairlift will be in control of the stairlift.
All Acorn stairlifts come with an inertial reel lap harness, this is like a seat belt in a car, and will keep you in the stairlift's seat at all times. Safety is a priority when going up the stairs.
To allow easier mounting and dismounting of a stairlift, an Acorn stairlift comes with a swivel seat. The swivel seat locks in position via a catch located on the seat which enables you can use the stairlift with ease. The stairlift will not operate unless the seat is in the correct riding position, this means that you can be confident that your journey on the stairs will be safe and secure.
If there is an obstruction on the stairs, our stairlifts will detect it with at least one of the five pressure sensitive surfaces situated around the stairlift. If an obstruction is detected, the Acorn stairlift will cease movement so you can move the obstruction. The pressure sensitive surfaces are located around the footrest and the top and bottom of the stairlift carriage.
Mounted on the carriage of the stairlift is a digital display which shows clearly when the lift is in the normal operating position. Also it provides invaluable diagnostic information in the unlikely event of a fault with your stairlift.
The fold-away construction makes the stairlift unobtrusive and allows full access of the stairs.
Australian Standards have been developed to ensure equipment meets recognised safety and reliability criteria. To achieve this status, equipment must pass a series of tests in which it is put under difficult conditions that are designed to be similar to those that the child or adult may face when the equipment is used. For example, wheelchairs are tested for safhas gained Australian Standard acceptance, it provides a sense of satisfaction and reassurance that it is safe to be used and will do the job.
